MY PHILOSOPHY

I believe that children learn through play, from their environment, culture and the relationships experienced in their early years. I support children to belong, build their sense of self and identity, gain confidence in their skills, interact positively with their peers, support their sense of being and belonging, interact with the larger world, build understanding of their world and lastly to build a curiosity about their life that supports the child to become lifelong learners. My philosophy is a reflection of my current beliefs and values which are put into action through my daily work and interactions with all children.

Children
I delight in children’s competence, resourcefulness and individuality. I will work with you to learn about your child, their individual quirks and dispositions and your desires for your child. My role as an educator is to nurture, encourage and provide suitable resources to support and extend your child’s play/learning.

Families
You and your family are your child’s primary nurturer and educator. I feel that an educator and parent form a partnership whose focus is on your child’s wellbeing. It is essential that we have clear understanding of each other’s expectations and values. I will love to hear about your and your child’s celebrations, life events, changing interests and any other information that helps us work together in a meaningful way.

Service
As an Educator of BBFDC I am committed to work with the staff and other educators in a respectful and inclusive way. As an educator of this service I will strive to be professional in my actions and behaviour and to meet all of the policies, procedures and regulatory requirements in a spirit of cooperation.

Inclusive Practices
My FDC service is an inclusive place in which all families are respected. It is a place for everyone, particularly your child, to feel safe and nurtured. My family and I recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as Australia’s first people and will work to close the gap experienced by the first people.

Communication
I value communication as one of the primary tools in making sure your time at my service goes smoothly. I will communicate clearly and promptly with you should I need to discuss anything, and I invite you to do so as well. I am committed to self-reflection and learning new ways of seeing and doing.
